Internet Marketing Strategic - A Look Inside!

Internet Marketing...some people find it difficult to talk about, others find it difficult to do!

I've been working with Lee Brooker for 15 months now, and it's only this month (February 2010) that I have finally extracted the painful admission from him that..."O.K, you're right, I did find it really tough when I first started out online...and yes, I nearly gave up a few times".

Phew, wasn't that difficult now was it Lee?

All joking aside, Internet Marketing is NOT easy, despite what the Gurus and their copywriting "puff and boast" will have you believe.

I believe there are three strands to this.

Firstly, there is a lot of old and re-hashed information circulating and being passed off as "advanced money making techniques". Most of it, is quite frankly not worth a jot. But the sales and video copy is so good, so advanced that you get seduced and another "how to" product sits on your hard drive after just a cursory attempt to implement the techniques.

In the event that you do manage to persist, you quickly find out that the promises are empty and the product does not do what it says on the tin (or ecover)!

Secondly, Internet Marketing is a hugely broad subject. There is SEO, Web 2.0, Social, PPC... and so it goes. Most "IM" products that appear pick on one small sub topic of a main topic and sell it as a silver bullet solution to all of your needs. The fact is you need to adopt an integrated approach to your online marketing and use techniques from all the various areas.

Thirdly, and controversially...it has been suggested that the Gurus find a technique that works, flog it to death themsleves and then release to the masses once the technique is on the wane. Why else would they release such "powerful" techniques if they were gaining such an advantage from using them? Ummm, interesting question.

Far be it from me to agree with this though.

And of course, all of these great products that are sold with such marketing aplomb...don't teach you the basics you need to get going!

I remember buying Day Job Killer when it was released. I'd been "online" for about six months and it sounded great, I was totally sold. But...I hadn't really got around to understanding exactly what affiliate marketing was (yes, O.K, I am a bit thick)...needless to say, at that stage of my online development, Day Job Killer was a waste of time!

Now I do have a bit of a "chromosome loose" which dictates that I need to understand how everything works and it has held me back, no doubt. But, there were no products that taught me basic web development, or how to effectively use my Cpanel...and worst of all, how to do my market research!

So, realizing there is so much "puff and boast" and "smoke and mirrors" in the IM world, Lee and I decided we'd build an Internet Marketing Membership site! A site that held everything from the most basic up to advanced techniques for people who want to make some money online!

Well, probably about 18 months when I think about it.

To be able to just have 20 odd videos on how to interact with Cpanel would have saved me so much time.

To have some really solid video tutorials on proper market research would have saved me many thousands of dollars...and made me many thousands more!

To properly understand search engine optimisation would have saved me so much time! In realizing that you really only need to get the basics right and that each subsequent dig in brings less and less return! How deep did I dig? Don't ask!

To have some free professional standard web graphics and templates - oh how I wish!!! My first attempts were awful!

For example, Secret PPC by Armand Morin is a genuine advance in PPC startegy and that we applaud and will always support. But we'll make sure your basics are covered with solid, proper video or eBook tutorials.
